    MINNA – More confusion and intrigues unfolds in Niger state as the over three thousand political appointees are summoned to gather at Government House Minna for verification exercise to rid the system of fake appointees.

    Daily Independent on Wednesday, 10th October, 2024 exclusively reported how confusion, corruption and intrigues is threatening the Governor Mohammed Umar Bago led All Progressive Congress (APC) administration and the leadership of the party in the state.

    As a follow up, over four thousand appointees from across the 25 Local Government Areas (LGAs) as at Thursday appeared for the 3-days screening on the invite of the state government via a memo signed by one Hon. Kabiru Shehu, who is also said to be the sole handler of the exercise.

    Findings indicate that while many refused to show up, most of them who besieged government house since Wednesday through Thursday for the verification exercise were yet to be attended to.

    They are therefore calling for more hands to speed up the process.

    However, day two into the exercise, the political appointees are not happy with the entire process and the screening commiittee chairman, Kabiru Shehu Bacci in particular as they suspect him to be behind the confusion and intrigues that forced aggrieved party members to consider printing fake appointment letters and other related vices.

    Many of the appointees also cited corruption and short-changing as bane of the whole process.

    One of the appointees who confided in our correspondent said, “Our salaries are deducted at will by the desk officers without prior notice or explanations, and some of our colleagues have not even received salaries since they were engaged about a year now”.

    Meanwhile, the screening committee chairman, Kabiru Shehu Bacci has appealed for calm, adding that the exercise aimed at resolving all issues relating to salaries and other entitlements of genuine appointees.

    While assuring all those who have not received salaries that their case will be attended to in due course, Kabiru Shehu said pending salary issues and genuine complaints from appointees.
