Women from various local government areas in the Niger Delta region yesterday criticised the planned October 1 protest against hardship in the country.
They spoke at an event in Warri, organised by the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) and themed; “Niger Delta Women: Empowerment as a Panacea for Peace, Stability and Economic Growth”.
In their resolution, the women, representing various ethnic nationalities in the oil-rich region, urged their children and wards to avoid the protest.
They called on fellow citizens to give the Tinubu administration the opportunity to address the challenges facing the nation.
Expressing appreciation for President Tinubu’s efforts in supporting women and youth in the region, they asserted, “When you appoint the right people to the right positions, positive results will follow.”
Madam Beauty Warejuowei, a prominent woman leader in the Niger Delta, emphasised the need for women in the region to “stand firm and make the best use of the opportunities provided by the authorities.”
