Justice Hauwa’u Bubari of the Federal High Court in Kaduna has sentenced Audu Ishida and Elisha Smith to six years imprisonment for fraud.
The Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, prosecuted Ishida and Smith for different crimes like impersonation, retaining fraud money, and money laundering.
According to a post on EFCC’s X handle on Thursday, the defendants admitted guilt to the charges, leading the prosecution counsel, M.E. Eimonye, to request the court to convict and impose the appropriate sentence on them.

After the defense counsel’s plea was considered, the judge sentenced Smith to four years in prison or a fine of N500,000 and Ishida to two years in prison or a fine of N400,000.
In addition to their prison sentences, they had to give up their mobile phones, a Samsung Galaxy S10e and Oppo F1s.
Both convicts were apprehended in Jos, Plateau State, based on intelligence connecting them to fraudulent internet activities, according to the EFCC.
