CP Itam hails Anambra residents for defying IPOB’s sit- at -home order

Anambra Commissioner of Police, Mr Nnaghe Itam, has commended the people of the state for defying the illegal sit-at-home order by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
Itam, who described IPOB members as ‘criminal elements’ made the commendation in a statement issued in Awka on Thursday by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state.
CP Itam also praised residents over their decision to stand up against other acts threatening national unity and public peace.
The CP said that Anambra was blessed with vibrant, energetic and enterprising people, full of potential, saying “This can only be fully realized in a peaceful and secure environment.”

He stated that he led police security patrols to some identified areas in the state to assess the security deployment and monitor compliance to the operational order.
He also visited schools where the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) was ongoing and was pleased with the on-the-spot assessment of the security arrangement.
The CP charged police personnel deployed for this assignment to be resolute, firm and professional in the discharge of their duties.
Itam urged the people to continue to assist the Police and other security agencies with information towards combating all forms of criminality as well as maintaining public order and safety in the state. (NAN
