The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) on Friday called on Nigerians to resist attempt to alter and manipulate subsequent elections in the country.
CUPP’s National Secretary, Chief Peter Ameh in a statement argued that there is no iota of truth that the ruling All progressives Congress (APC) rode to power through majority votes of the electorates.
He expressed the fear that the situation would not change in the 2027 General elections if the electorates fail to organize and resist any attempt by those he termed “rejected leaders” to force themselves on them through rigging and corruption of the country’s elections.
“A people united can never be defeated,” he said.
“APC has never won on popular vote, not even in 2015. APC does not even believe in a free and fair election.
“It was only under APC presidency led by Muhammadu Buhari that the circle of the law Governing the administration of Election jurisprudence in Nigeria was broken when he refused to sign the electoral act in 2019.
“It’s been malpractice after malpractice and arm twisting of our electoral process to win.
“Kano returned over 2 million votes without a single void vote and incidentally the resident Electoral Commissioner who raised an objection about the process and validity of those ballots got burnt to death with some members of his family in his house in Kano state days after.
“And the use of incident form for the 2015 presidential election compromised the validity, credibility and integrity of that election.
“Then fast forward to 2023 General Election where BVAS was unable to upload results of the Presidential election to IREV in real time and that lead to the manipulation of the electoral process.”
