A major assault on Department of State Services (DSS) assets in Bassa, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State was thwarted on Wednesday with devastating results for the attackers.
Sources informed Zagazola Makama that more than 100 bandits launched the attack but were met with strong resistance from DSS personnel, who unfortunately lost two of their own in the clash.

The Nigerian Air Force swiftly intervened, deploying a series of airstrikes that inflicted severe damage on the bandits. As of the latest reports, at least 28 bandit bodies have been recovered, with numerous others still scattered across the area.
In addition to the significant loss of life among the bandits, security forces have also seized several weapons and motorcycles used by the attackers.
