A London man Sabin Manda has been convicted of murder after police detectives retrieved CCTV footage that refuted his self-defence argument following a fatal stabbing.

Manda, 32, from Popes Lane, Ealing, was found guilty of murdering 27-year-old Bajram Luli at the Inner London Crown Court on Thursday, 26 September.

According to the Met Police, the incident stemmed from a dispute over drugs that occurred on 11 March 2024, on Sudbury Heights Avenue in Greenford.

The convict initially asserted that he acted in self-defence, claiming he feared for his life. However, he subsequently went into hiding, expressing concerns about potential retaliation.

The police said while the convict evaded authorities, detectives successfully obtained CCTV footage of the incident, revealing that the attack was unprovoked.

Utilising advanced forensic techniques, investigators located and apprehended Manda.

Detective Inspector Adam Guttridge from Specialist Crime South stated, “The investigation team worked diligently to gather evidence that disproved Sabin Manda’s claims of self-defence.

“This was an unprovoked attack, and Manda will now face significant prison time to reflect on the consequences of his actions. I hope this conviction provides some solace to Bajram’s family.”

Manda has been remanded in custody and is scheduled for sentencing at the same court on Thursday, 11 October.
