Today, the people of Edo State converge at the polls to exercise their sacrosanct democratic right, to determine the individual who will ascend to the coveted governorship seat of the state.
With 2.2 million permanent voter cards collected, the stage is set for a fiercely contested electoral battle among the distinguished candidates representing various political parties.
Senator Monday Okpebholo, the standard-bearer of the All Progressives Congress, Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party’s flagbearer, and Olumide Akpata, the Labour Party’s hopeful, are all fervently optimistic about securing the highest number of votes.
The ultimate prize awaits the victorious candidate: the privilege of occupying the hallowed halls of Osadebe House, the revered government house, which will soon be vacated by the incumbent Governor, Godwin Obaseki, on November 11, following the completion of his two constitutionally mandated terms.
