As part of activities to mark the Edo Education Week 2024, the Edo State Ministry of Education under the leadership of Governor Godwin Obaseki held a gathering of teachers from across the state at the Teachers for Tech Conference.
The conference, which is the first of its kind in the state brought together over 2,000 teachers across Basic Education, Secondary Education, Vocational Education and Tertiary Institutions and explored educational technologies for 21st-century learning trends, educational games, and many more.
While delivering his address and recounting the gains of educational reforms across the state, the governor, Obaseki, praised the teachers for embracing technology and their commitment to the reforms in the education sector over the past seven and half years. He added that the level of success recorded would be impossible without their ardent support and commitment to change.
He went on to assure the elated teachers of the sustainability of technological reforms adding that the teachers themselves are the instruments of sustainability.
Obaseki further commended the Commissioner for Education, Dr Joan Osa-Oviawe, for her untiring efforts since assuming office. He applauded her for her sacrifices and commitment to the reforms of the administration.
To make the event more colourful, training sessions from Data Science Nigeria, CCHub, and Read Manna were done to take the teachers on an immersive training journey.
In addition, stakeholders from EdTech solutions such as Exam Scholars, Teachers Lounge, Schoolinka, 9ija Kids, eLima, Genius Hub, etc, were also present at the event.
The major highlight of the event was the presentation of the Education Management Information System (EMIS) pilot report in 51 schools across the state by the CEO/Founder of Data Science Nigeria, Dr Olubayo Adekanbi who gave a rundown of the results of the pilot stage and its impact roadmap.
The Edo State Teachers Tech Conference 2024 was a journey of learning and discovery and attested to the commitment of the Edo State Government to consistently improving the quality of its workforce, especially in the education ecosystem.
