The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Betty Enekpen Otimeyin, has charged operatives of the Command to adopt open-door policy and community policing approach in their respective areas of operation.

She stated this on Thursday at her first briefing with Senior Officers of the Command, attended by Deputy Commissioners of Police, Assistant Commissioners of Police, All Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Team Commanders and Heads of Departments from across the State.

The Edo CP  noted that the strategy aims to foster stronger relationships between the police and the community, promoting trust, cooperation, and effective crime prevention.

She stressed the need for DPOs to ensure that their phone numbers are written conspicuously at their respective charge rooms.

She further charged the DPOs to engage with stakeholders, including hunters and vigilantes, to gather intelligence, prevent crimes, and address community concerns.

“This collaborative approach is crucial in maintaining law and order, as well as ensuring the safety and security of Edo State residents,” she said.

In addition, the CP reiterated the warning issued by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, prohibiting all officers from wearing dark glasses while in uniform.

“This directive aims to promote transparency, accountability, and professionalism within the Police Force,” Otimenyin added.
