    The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), yesterday, released the final list of candidates for the forthcoming September 21 Edo State governorship election.

      

    A statement by National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, INEC, Sam Olumekun, disclosed that 17 political parties have fielded candidates for the election, out of which 16 are men, while one is a woman.

      

    Olumekun revealed that the final list has been published at the INEC’s office in Edo State and also uploaded on the Commission’s website and social media platforms for public information.

      

    Meanwhile, the electoral body has stated that political parties are permitted to start campaigns in public from Wednesday, April 24, 2024. According to INEC, the campaigns will end at midnight on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
