The leadership of the Labour Party (LP) in Edo State, yesterday, condemned the invasion of the Labour Party (LP) Secretariat in Abuja recently to demand the sack of its National Chairman, Julius Abure.
The Edo LP also pledged its readiness to rally support for its governorship candidate, Olumide Akpata, towards ensuring victory in the coming election in Edo State.
Briefing newsmen in Benin City, the State Chairman of LP, Elizabeth Ativie, said that the invaders were sponsored by some persons who do not wish the party well.
Ativie said that the leaders and members of the party in Edo are strongly behind the National Chairman, Julius Abure.
According to her, those trying to divide LP should have a rethink and work for the party to move forward in Nigeria. She said: “Those protesters were hired to undermine the LP, as they were rented from a nearby market in Abuja.
“Abure is a jolly good fellow who has moved the party to an enviable height.
“Under his leadership in the party, we now have a governor, national and state Assembly members. Such a person should be commended and congratulated.”
The Edo LP chairman urged all members of the party to promote a peaceful atmosphere and allow the party to win more positions ahead of the forthcoming election in Edo and other states across the country.
