Ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Edo state, some voters in Benin city were spotted busy with shopping in different markets along the state capital.
Daily Trust observed that the markets in the state capital were filled with buyers in preparation for the poll.
The Police have restricted movement from 12 midnight.
A trader at the Ring Road market in the heartbeat of Benin City, Esther Osagie, told Daily Trust that her business got patronage on Friday more than what she used to have.
According to her, she had already sold out the perishable good in her store, and would join voters on Saturday to cast vote for her preferred candidate.
One of the buyers in Ring Road makeshift market identified herself as a civil servant, said she had to use the privilege of public holiday declared by the state government to do the shopping for her family.
Also, voters were seen in various parks traveling to their respective villages in preparation for the election.
