    LAGOS – The stage is set to dissect how the Continent of Africa can truly emerge as a future economic and cultural world power, owing largely to the demographic dividends and vast natural wealth which she parades.

    This will be the issue on the front burner on the popular monthly interview discourse, Boiling Point Arena, on Sunday, January 12, 2025, with eminent historian and internationally rated academic, Prof Toyin Falola as the distinguished Guest Speaker.

    The forthcoming edition of Boiling Point Arena, which is the 27th instalment over the past two years, is held via Zoom and is to be transmitted live on two radio stations, WASH 94.9FM, Lagos and Sweet 107.1FM, Abeokuta.

    The once-in-a-month current affairs programme, with an incredibly large online followership, is hosted by the Convener, Dr Ayo Arowojolu, a media professional with 34 years of multi-varied work career spanning the media, banking and education sectors.

    Prof Falola will speak on the topic: “The Socio-Economic and Political Survival of Mother Africa- The Dilemma and Viable Options”.

    The discourse is expected to be an exciting session similar to its previous editions on December 8, 2024, which featured a “One-on-One Live Interview With Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, His Legacies in Governance and His Assessment of Today’s Nigeria”.

    The Guest Speaker, Prof Toyin Falola is widely reputed as Africa’s most distinguished historian who is best known globally as one of the most celebrated African humanity scholars.

    The academic icon is a recipient of 25 honorary doctorates from several globally acclaimed institutions such as Monmouth University, USA, The City University of New York, University of Ibadan, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, the University of Calgary, Canada and others.

    He has authored more than 100 books and articles and lectured in more than 65 countries, even as he was recently appointed as an Extraordinary Professor of the Humanities at the Faculty of Law, Free State University, South Africa.

    Foremost traditional ruler, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Prof. Saka Matemilola, is expected to deliver a keynote address to herald the discourse in his capacity as Chairman of the Boiling Point Council of Royals and Elders.

    According to a statement by the Chairman of the Organising Committee for the programme, Dr Eddy Ademosu, one of Nigeria’s notable Public Relations Icon, the interview discourse will, in particular, point the way forward for reinventing the African continent as a superpower.

    Dr Ademosu commended the Management of Sweet FM, chaired by its Promoter, Senator Olugbenga Obadara, and the owners of WASH 94.9FM for identifying with worthy causes through partnering with the Boiling Point platform to widen the audience reach of the programme via terrestrial and online channels.
