England’s interim head coach, Lee Carsley, has confirmed that Bukayo Saka is undergoing medical assessment after picking up an injury during the UEFA Nations League match against Greece.

Saka, 23, was forced to leave the game in the 51st minute after injuring his right leg. He was replaced by Chelsea winger Noni Madueke. The injury occurred during the match at Wembley Stadium on Thursday, where England suffered a 2-1 defeat to Greece.

The Arsenal forward was visibly in discomfort, stretching and holding the back of his right leg before eventually sitting down on the pitch, shortly after Greece’s Vangelis Pavlidis scored the opening goal.

After the match, Carsley provided an update, saying, “He’s being assessed. In the lead-up to their first goal, you can see that Saka felt something in his leg.”

England played without key players Harry Kane and Jack Grealish, who were both sidelined due to injuries but are expected to be fit for the upcoming Nations League match against Finland on Sunday.

Saka’s injury adds to Arsenal’s current challenges, as they are already missing captain Martin Odegaard, who is recovering from an ankle injury sustained while playing for Norway in September.

Arsenal will return to Premier League action on October 19, when they face Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium.
