The 2023/24 NPFL league winners could be decided this Sunday if Enugu Rangers secure a home victory and Remo Stars falter in their away match. Enugu Rangers will host Bendel Insurance, while Remo Stars will be away to Sunshine Stars.
Despite Bendel Insurance’s less impressive away record, they have been formidable defensively, conceding the fewest goals in the NPFL this season. Enugu Rangers, expected to leverage their home advantage and the support of their passionate fans, are gearing up for what could be their eighth NPFL title.
Only Enyimba, with nine titles, have won more NPFL championships than the Flying Antelopes, whose last triumph came in 2016. Before that 2016 triumph, Enugu Rangers had not won the Nigerian top-flight title since 1984, the year they won what was at the time a record sixth league title.
Little wonder Enugu Rangers’ coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu, expressed confidence in his team’s ability to seize the moment.

“It will be a thing of joy for me, my family, technical crew, and everybody, especially for our fans who have waited since 2016,” Ilechukwu said. “Every supporter of the Flying Antelopes is looking forward to the trophy again. There is hope that it will happen. The problem now is Remo Stars; we have two games, and we need to fight to make sure we win our next game. With that, it will be a great joy for Rangers, the management, fans, and everybody.”

Remo Stars, who are still in the title race, face a tough away game against Sunshine Stars. A loss for Remo Stars would give Enugu Rangers the chance to secure the title if they win their match against Bendel Insurance.
Also on Sunday, Sporting Lagos will take on Enyimba, and Bayelsa United will face Shooting Stars. Both matches will air on StarTimes Beta Sports channel 244, ensuring fans across the country can witness the intense action.
