as the new manager of the club after agreements were concluded on Friday afternoon, with an official announcement scheduled for later today.

This comes four days after Everton fired former head coach, Frank Lampard, whose poor run of performances landed the Toffees  in 19th place on the Premier League table fighting to exit relegation.

The PUNCH had reported that former Leeds coach, Marcelo Bielsa was Everton first choice for Lampard’s replacement, with the latter travelling to London to discuss with Everton’s management.

However, terms could not be reached with the former Leeds boss, as Everton wanted a quick agreement but Bielsa wanted to hold on till the summer before assuming the role as manager.

It was also gathered that Bielsa had reservations if the Everton squad could adapt to his high-energy playing style decrying the lack of pace in the squad.

Although discussion were said to generally be positive, Everton could not wait until the summer for Bielsa, as they look to exit the relegation zone immediately to remain in the English top division.

Dyche, 51, returns to the Premier League, nine months after being sacked by Burnley after a 10-year spell at the club.

He led Burnley to promotion twice during his tenure, and guided them to a seventh-place finish in 2017-18

Dyche has eight days to prepare his side for their next match, when they host league leaders Arsenal at Goodison Park.

Everton then travel to Anfield the following week to take on Liverpool.
