    Bello, who had been declared wanted over allegations of money laundering and other corrupt activities totaling N80.2 billion, appeared before the anti-graft agency following thorough consultations.

    According to a statement from Ohiare Michael, Director of the Yahaya Bello Media Office, Bello decided to honor the EFCC’s invitation to clear his name and demonstrate his commitment to legal processes. The statement stressed that Bello’s previous actions were to safeguard his fundamental rights and ensure due process. He remains a strong advocate for the rule of law.

    The statement also noted, “The case has been before a competent court, and Alhaji Yahaya Bello has been represented by his legal team at every hearing. The former governor has now chosen to appear before the EFCC to clear his name, as he has nothing to hide or fear.”

    Bello reiterated his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and praised the government’s efforts to foster economic development and fight corruption. He highlighted that his administration in Kogi State was the first to implement anti-corruption measures to ensure that public resources were used for the benefit of the people.

    The former governor arrived at the EFCC headquarters with several prominent Nigerians.
