In a move to enhance safety and mitigate fire hazards in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, through the leadership of the FCT Minister, is set to launch the Fire Emergency Monitoring Gateway.
This is due to incessant cases of fire incidents in Abuja particularly in open markets, which have devastated properties and livelihoods.
This was contained in a statement signed by
the Chief Operating Officer of PrimeAlert Secure Ltd, Mr George Tiga in Abuja on Sunday.
He reiterated the firm’s commitment to partnering with other states to deploy the Fire Emergency Monitoring Gateway to curb the devastating impact of fire incidents and enhance public safety.
The statement added that the groundbreaking technology will connect all houses, structures, and buildings in the FCT to a centralized fire emergency monitoring dashboard, allowing for real-time smoke detection and rapid response in the event of a fire outbreak.
Tiga said FCT will be the first sub-national in Nigeria to implement such an advanced fire detection system adding that their aim is to expand the deployment of our Fire Emergency Monitoring Gateway to all 36 states in Nigeria.

The statement read “ In recent years, Abuja has witnessed an alarming number of fire incidents, particularly in open markets, which have devastated properties and livelihoods. According to reports, the last nine months have seen over 300 fire outbreaks in the FCT, with billions of Naira in damages.
“ These incidents have been especially prevalent during the dry season when fire hazards are more likely to occur. However, with the deployment of the Fire Emergency Monitoring Gateway, citizens can now breathe a sigh of relief as the government takes proactive measures to ensure their safety and prevent further devastation.
“With the high surge of fire outbreaks in the FCT. We are proud to lead the charge in ensuring that fire incidents become a thing of the past in Abuja. With our technology, we are offering real-time fire detection and monitoring, public alert systems, and faster emergency response.
“ The FCT will be the first sub-national in Nigeria to implement such an advanced fire detection system. Our aim is to expand the deployment of our Fire Emergency Monitoring Gateway to all 36 states in Nigeria. We encourage other states to follow the FCT’s lead”
“The Fire Emergency Monitoring Gateway is a cutting-edge technology that will instantly alert the fire service and relevant emergency responders at the first sign of smoke or fire. All structures, residential, commercial, and industrial properties within the FCT will be connected to the gateway. Once a fire threat is detected, emergency response teams will be immediately notified, ensuring that fire outbreaks are contained swiftly, thereby preventing large-scale damage.
“ The deployment of this innovative system will position Abuja as a model city for fire safety in Africa, aligning with global standards seen in world-class cities such as New York, London, and Singapore”
“The statement added that initiative aligns with the renewed hope agenda of President Tinubu’s administration in creating a safer and more resilient Nigeria, as well as positioning the FCT as a beacon of urban development and public safety”
It noted that by implementing this initiative Abuja would be setting the pace for other states to follow, fostering a more secure environment for residents, businesses, and investors alike.
