The Federal Government has appointed Prof. Hadiza Usman as the Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Nguru, Yobe State.
This was made known in a press statement signed by the Deputy Director, Media and Publicity of the Federal Ministry of Health, Ahmadu Chindaya, and made available to our correspondent on Sunday.
The statement noted that the appointment is for an initial term of four years with effect from November 17, 2022.
The statement noted that the Minister of State for Health, Joseph Ekumankama, who presented the appointment letter to Prof. Usman, congratulated her for all her contributions to the service to humanity.
Ekumankama urged the Medical Director to see her appointment as the will of God and not just her effort as the best candidate.
He also urged her to use her position to build relationships, especially with those who contested the position with her but lost.
“You should draw them to work with you as a team for the good of the hospital. Some of them might have excellent ideas that will help move the hospital. The change you need at the centre might come from other people, so please operate an all-inclusive policy,” he said.
The Minister also charged the MD to work harmoniously with the unions at the centre.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Mahmuda Mamman, represented by the Director of Hospital Services, Dr. Salma Anas, congratulated Usman on her well-deserved appointment.
On her part, Prof. Usman expressed gratitude for her appointment and pledged to serve the hospital diligently and promised to consolidate on the gains of her predecessor’s and the governing board to provide efficient and effective healthcare service, training and research.
