The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling socio-economic challenges and evolving solutions to emerging threats to the nation’s collective wellbeing.

Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Barr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, gave the assurance during a town hall engagement organised by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment in Abuja.

In her speech, Onyejeocha emphasised the government’s resolve to address the longstanding issues that have plagued the nation and to bring Nigeria back to its position of economic strength on the global stage.

She commended the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and various stakeholders in actualising the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’—a policy framework focused on job creation, education, health, food security, and social investment.

“This government, under the leadership of President Tinubu, is determined to fulfil its promises to the Nigerian people,” said Onyejeocha.

“We are working tirelessly to overcome socio-economic challenges, while evolving solutions to new threats that affect our collective wellbeing. Our efforts to reform the economy, ensure inclusive growth, and strengthen national security remain unwavering.”

She further highlighted the importance of collaboration with policymakers, employers, and the workforce to foster development and achieve industrial peace.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment, she said, is committed to ensuring decent work and harmonious labour relations to drive national growth.

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Olayemi Cardoso, also spoke at the event, expressing optimism about the nation’s economic future.

Represented by Mr Omolola Adegbenga, Head of Pensions at CBN, Cardoso emphasised that challenges often lead to periods of calm and growth.

The town hall meeting gathered key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors to discuss the distinctive economic challenges facing the country and explore strategies for future progress.
