Fire razes Lagos market, destroys goods worth millions

An early morning fire on Wednesday razed the Alaba Rago Market in the Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State and destroyed goods worth millions of naira.
The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority, Femi Oke-Osayintolu, said the fire started around midnight.
The cause of the fire was yet to be known as of press time.

Oke-Osayintolu disclosed that the LASEMA team quickly went to the market following a distress call, adding that the authority activated the state’s emergency response plan and sent their team from Igando to help.
He stated that the team found some makeshift shops already on fire when they arrived at the scene, adding that firefighters from the state Fire and Rescue Service, with LASEMA and other emergency workers, were on the scene working to put out the flames.
The fire has been brought under control.
