A firm, G. Elias, recently organised community outreach activities in Lagos and Abuja targeting critical needs in healthcare and vocational training in local communities.
The outreach which marked one of the activities of the firm’s 30th anniversary included visits to the Lagos Island Maternity Hospital, the Surulere Local Government Institute of Vocational Education in Lagos, and the Federal Medical Centre Jabi in Abuja.
At the Lagos Island Maternity Hospital and the Federal Medical Centre Jabi, Abuja, the firm provided financial assistance to women requiring surgery due to post-natal complications, many of whom were unable to leave the hospital due to overwhelming medical bills. By covering these expenses, the firm helped reunite mothers with their families and alleviated a significant financial burden that could have had lasting consequences.
In addition, the firm also supported students at the Surulere Local Government Institute of Vocational Education covering registration fees for students enrolled at the institute for training in vocational skills such as shoemaking, ICT, event management and catering, hairdressing, and fashion design.
Its managing partner, Fidelis Adewole, said: “At G. Elias, we are deeply invested in creating avenues for individuals to overcome obstacles and realize their full potential. Whether it is providing access to healthcare or enabling skills development, we aim to empower people to rise above their circumstances and forge better futures. By supporting these communities, we hope to make a meaningful difference in the lives of everyday Nigerians. It is about empowering people to rise above their challenges and creating lasting change.”
Also, Human Resources Executive at G. Elias, Hadizah Shittu, said: “As we celebrate 30 years of excellence, our vision extends beyond being a successful law firm; we strive to be a force for good in society. Our community engagement efforts are focused on fostering long-term change and ensuring that more Nigerians have the tools and opportunities to thrive. We remain deeply committed to contributing to the socioeconomic development of the country and making a lasting impact,”
These outreach events, it disclosed, reflect G. Elias’ deep-rooted commitment to improving the communities they serve, recognizing the importance of giving back and supporting those in need. Currently, the firm operates in over 18 practices which include mergers, acquisitions, strategic investments, re-organizations, foreign investment, compliance, lending, derivatives, insolvency, capital markets, litigation, and arbitration, among others.
