Members of Abule-Osun community in Lagos State have expressed excitement over the provision of a solar-powered borehole at Abule Osun community in Lagos to ensure access to clean and safe water among residents.
The Youth President of the Community, Mr Kasali Abiodun, commended the project, noting that the provision of clean water is essential in the community to enable residents to live well.
Kasali who is also the National Chairman, Road Transportation, Abule Osun Chapter, Ojo Lagos, Kasali Abiodun, said LG providing water supply to the community is significant to the well being of the residents,” he stated.
Also, the Secretary of Ainaoko Family, Semiu Raheem, said lack of water slows down economic activities, adding that LG has brought a project to the community worthy of emulation by other companies operating in the community. He commended LG for the project, assuring that the community will ensure its sustainability.
Speaking at the commissioning of the borehole, Managing Director, LG Electronics West Africa Operations, Mr. Hyong Sub Ji, expressed the company’s commitment to giving back to its host communities.
This, he said, is done through the LG Life’s Good Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative in line with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goal (SGD) 6, which mandated countries to ensure access to water and sanitation for all that will benefit their well being.
He noted that the water project is the most essential resource in any community, adding that clean water supply is important for public health and economic development.
According to him, many communities are suffering from lack of access to clean water, adding that this borehole project will bring good life to the residents.
“We will keep doing this project in Nigeria. We make this solar-powered borehole system an important project and we hope this project will bring good life to the residents of the communities. We thank you for your continuous love and support to LG company,” he stated.
The Head, Fouani Nigeria Limited Factory Abule Osun, Mr. Mohammed Fuoani, said the project to the community is timely as access to clean water is essential to human life and development of the people and economy. He said the both companies are passionate about giving the solar-powered borehole system to their host communities, as it is costless and green energy to ensure the reduction of carbon pollution.
