    MAKURDI – The Benue State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has elected a set of new leadership that would run the affairs of the party in the next four years.

    Speaking shortly after the inauguration of the new leadership, a former member of the House of Representatives (HoS) for Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency, Chief Ezekiel Adaji, who emerged as the party chairman, said top on his agenda would be to reconcile aggrieved members and make the party more formidable.

    Adaji, who disclosure this while delivering his acceptance speech also noted that the new officials who intend to hit the ground running would also work towards ensuring that the party bounces back to life.

    The party chairman who spoke on behalf of the State Working Committee (SWC), of the PDP in the state further said he was overwhelmed by the massive support given to them by members of the party, to emerge as their leaders.

    According to him, “Our state is in need of leadership and my state Exco will not disappoint the party to ensure it bounced back to power.

    “We are going to hit the ground running and we shall reconcile all aggrieved members of the party as we intend to immediately set up a reconciliation committee”, that would reconcile aggrieved members back to the party.

    Earlier, while announcing the results, the Chairman of the Congress Electoral Committee, Alhaji Shaba Ibrahim, said Chief Ezekiel Adaji, who scored 2,482 votes was declared winner of the election.

    He further observed that out of a total of 2,910 delegates that were expected to be at the Congress, the Electoral Committee accredited 2,900 delegates for the election.

    Other officials elected at the State Congress of the party alongside the chairman are: State Secretary Comrade Dan Nyikwagh; State Public Secretary, Tim Nyor; Youth Leader, Ibya Terkimbi and Women leader, Mrs Alice Albert.

    The new party executives were sworn in by the Legal Officer of the Caretaker Committee of the PDP, Barr Friday Ejembi.
