    Four men were convicted to one month each in the correctional facility by a Wuse Zone 6 Magistrates’ Court in Abuja on Tuesday for stealing armoured electric cables.

    Judge Mercy Tiwatope sentenced the convicted defendants, Sadiq Iseh, Ibrahim Abubakar, Bashir Abubakar, and Idris Usman, all of Airport Road, Abuja. They had all pleaded guilty to the charges.

    The four entered guilty pleas to charges of criminal conspiracy, mischief, and theft, and Tiwatope found them guilty and sentenced them accordingly.

    However, the magistrate advised the guilty to refrain from committing crimes in the future and offered them the chance to pay a punishment of N50,000 each.

    Earlier, the Prosecuting Counsel, Donatus Abah told the court that the convicts committed the offences on May 4.

    According to Abah, the offenders vandalized armored electric cables owned by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) and committed the offenses at Wuse 2 on Kashim Ibrahim Way.

    He stated that the men were taken into custody by one Inspector Danjuma Musa of the Police Mobile Force.
    The prosecution stated that 22 pieces of vandalized armored wires were found on the prisoners during police questioning and investigation.

    According to Abah, the offenses violate Penal Code Sections 97, 327, and 287.
