FRSC confirms six dead, 60 injured in Kogi auto crash

An auto crash involving an articulated vehicle in Kogi on Tuesday, left six persons dead and 60 persons injured, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed.
Mr Samuel Oyedeji the sector commander of the FRSC in Kogi, who made the disclosure to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lokoja on Tuesday, attributed the accident to high speed.
He said, “The accident occurred around 3.00pm and I can confirm to you that six persons died, while 60 others got injured in the accident.
“Our officers in collaboration with the Police and the NSCDC personnel have rushed the injured to the Kogi specialist Hospital and the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, for medical attention.
“The corpse of the six people have also been deposited at the Federal University Teaching Hospital.

“We learnt the truck from Bauchi was heading to Enugu State before the unfortunate incident that occurred around Zone 8 Roundabout, Lokoja, Kogi, ” Oyedeji said.
The sector commander decried the notoriety of motorists, especially truck and bus drivers, in conveying both animals and human beings in their journey.
According to him, the Corps had been warning and sectioning many offenders yet they refused to heed the warnings.
Oyedeji, who could not disclose the number of animals affected by the accident, appealed to motorists to endeavour to comply to the rules and regulations of the corps for safety of lives and property. (NAN)
