The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has sacked a large number of directors, a move that is part of the extensive reforms implemented by the CBN Governor, Yemi Cardoso, since he assumed office.

Cardoso has been downsizing the workforce as part of his reforms. Initially, some senior staff who served during Godwin Emefiele’s tenure were spared in the first wave of layoffs in March.

However, these individuals have now also been dismissed.

Reports indicate that close to 600 employees are affected, with nearly all staff members in the Governor’s Directorate being terminated.

In this latest shakeup, around 200 individuals have already had their termination letters signed and will receive them in the coming days.
