    The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, has extended his congratulations to Monday Okpebholo for winning the position of Edo Governor-elect.

    Ganduje, through a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Edwin Olofu, in Abuja on Sunday, expressed that Okpebholo’s win was truly earned. 

    He emphasized that the victory showcased the trust the people of Edo had in the progressive direction and governance of the APC led by President Bola Tinubu.

    Ganduje, in extending the party’s warmest congratulations to Okpebholo, emphasized that his win demonstrated the confidence and optimism placed in his leadership. 

    He highlighted that the victory also showcased the dedication and perseverance of other party members and supporters who ensured an election that was transparent, just, and peaceful.

    The APC national chairman expressed optimism that under Okpebholo’s leadership, Edo State was set to experience unparalleled progress, harmony, and growth that would positively impact the lives of its residents.

    He mentioned that the APC would back Okpebholo’s government and collaborate with him to ensure the realization of a better Edo for everyone’s benefit.

    Ganduje expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and the Progressive Governors Forum, PGF, for their significant support, emphasizing that the triumph belonged to all the people of Edo.

    According to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Okpebholo, aged 54, secured 291,667 votes, surpassing Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who received 247,274 votes in the election.

    Mr Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party, LP, came third in the race with 22,361 votes.
