    Victoria Island, Lagos was agog on Saturday, 15 December, 2024 as Tobiloba Zainab, the charming daughter of Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, exchanged vows with her heartthrob, Ayodele Olugbenga Oshobajo, in a wedding of unmatched elegance and grandeur.

    The celebration began with a breathtaking church ceremony at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David, Trinity Towers, Victoria Island. Guests arrived in style, a testament to the high-profile nature of the occasion. Political leaders, legal luminaries, media icons, and society elite gathered to witness the union.

    Leading the dignitaries were Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr Kadri Hamzat. Their presence was complemented by other prominent figures such as former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi; Senator Babafemi Ojudu; Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi; and renowned Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Wole Olanipekun.

    The media and communications industry turned out in full force, with icons like Dare Babarinsa, Niran Malaolu, Mike Awoyinfa, Femi Jolaolu, and Idowu Adedoyin attending. Sunday Dare, former Minister of Youth Development and now the Special Adviser on Public Communications and Orientation to the President, also graced the ceremony. Notable appearances included Kunle Ajibade, Executive Editor of TheNEWS/PM News, who was accompanied by his wife. A veteran journalist and Chairman/CEO of Nigerian in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa also graced the occasion.

    After the vows, a convoy of luxury vehicles made its way to the Queens Park Event Centre for a lavish reception. The guest list at the reception was equally impressive, led by Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, with the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun. Joining them were former Ogun State Governor Otunba Gbenga Daniel and former Lagos Deputy Governor Otunba Femi Pedro.

    The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Idris Mohammed, and the Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake, added a touch of government presence to the event. Nduka Obaigbena, the founder of ThisDay and Arise TV, was in attendance alongside Eniola Bello, Managing Director of ThisDay. Other notable figures included Gbenga Adefaye, Provost of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ); Tunde Fagbenle, a columnist with The Punch; Tunji Bello, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC); and Professor Bayo Williams. Also present were the Directors-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), among others.

    The reception hall sparkled with luxury, and the atmosphere was alive with excitement. Guests indulged in a feast of sumptuous dishes and premium drinks, while the newest couple in town, Tobiloba and Ayodele, made a grand entrance that stole the show. Their chemistry was palpable as they took to the dance floor, swaying elegantly to the music. The master of ceremonies kept the crowd entertained with witty remarks and playful interactions with the couple, ensuring there was never a dull moment.

    Alake, who served as chairman of the day, delivered a an address filled with wisdom and advice. “Marriage is not a walk in the park,” he began. “It is built on love—the force that conquers all differences and sustains through challenges.”

    He commended Tobiloba and Ayodele for their courage in crossing the Rubicon into matrimony and praised their parents for the dedication and perseverance invested in raising them.

    Alake urged the couple to embrace their differences, whether in background, philosophy, or thinking, and to let love remain their guiding principle.
