Globacom has emerged as the 2023 Champion Newspapers’ Telecommunication Company of the Year.
It clinched the prize at the Champion Newspapers Limited’s yearly awards in Lagos.
The recognition strengthens the firm’s standing as the most forward-thinking telecom provider in Nigeria committed to offering reasonably priced communication solutions that revolutionise both businesses and lives.
The motivation behind the ceremony was given by the Managing Director of Champion Newspapers Limited, Dr. Nwadiuto Iheakanwa, in her welcome speech.
Her words: “All that we strive to do is to recognise excellence and hard work with a view to agitating our minds into doing more good.”
She said: “For Nigeria to get better and bigger, we will need more of this caliber of people and institutions, who we set out to honour this evening because they constitute an integral part of the best.”
The event was graced by the elite of the society, including prominent figures from the public and corporate sectors, as well as and elected officials.
The CEOs of UBA, Zenith Bank, Fidelity Bank, Julius Berger Plc, First Bank, and Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Limited were also in attendance.
The newspaper’s Managing Editor, Kelvin Egerue, remarked that Globacom has made a lot of sacrifices to make telecommunications services available to Nigerians at the most affordable rate, stating: “Nigerians will forever be proud to note that Globacom is always there to ensure that they are not exploited.”
SIMILARLY, the former Managing Director of Eko Electricity Distribution Company, Dr. Tinuade Sanda, has been honoured with the prestigious Vanguard Energy Icon of the Year Award in Lagos.
The Vanguard Personality of the Year Award, in its 12th edition, is a yearly event that celebrates personalities, who have excelled professionally and demonstrated outstanding service to humanity in both the private and public sectors.
Sanda’s recognition highlights her remarkable contributions to the energy sector and her commitment to advancing Nigeria’s power industry.
In her acceptance speech, Sanda lauded the organisers for the recognition and dedicated the award to her team, the entire workforce and the board of the power firm.
“I am deeply honoured to receive this award. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of my team and the support from the Board of Directors and other stakeholders in the sector. I’m looking forward to even greater milestones ahead,” she stated.
Dr. Sanda further emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in overcoming the challenges faced by the energy sector and reiterated her commitment to contributing to the development of Nigeria’s power industry.
