Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has ordered the immediate amendment of the state’s Penal Code Law to effectively punish terrorists’ informants and other terrorism-related offenses.
Radda made the announcement during a two-day capacity building workshop for stakeholders in the criminal justice system organized by the state Ministry of Justice.
He explained that the state faces security challenges, necessitating the modification of the penal code law to provide stiffer punishments for terrorists’ informants and sponsors.
The governor directed the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice to make the necessary amendments, emphasizing the importance of addressing challenges and implementing workable solutions.
He highlighted the pivotal role of criminal justice in sustaining social order, cohesion, and protecting individuals’ rights.
Radda stressed his administration’s commitment to enhancing the skills of critical stakeholders for efficient service delivery and ensuring justice is served for the betterment of the state and country.
The amendment aims to provide effective punishment for terrorists’ informants and sponsors, addressing the state’s security challenges.
Radda urged participants to contribute to discussions and issues raised during the workshop, emphasizing the need to work together to build a more effective and just administration of criminal justice law in Katsina State.
This move is part of his administration’s efforts to address insecurity in addition to other measures such as the establishment of the Katsina Community Watch Corps amongst others.
