Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has immediately dissolved the caretaker chairmen of all 44 local government units.
Sanusi Bature, the governor’s spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement.
This comes a week after the state House of Assembly authorized a two-month extension of their tenure, originally slated to end on September 8.
The lawmakers stated that the extension is intended to ensure continuity in local governance.
Local elections in the state are set for October 26.
The governor instructed the caretaker chairmen to delegate leadership to their respective personnel management directors.
“This dissolution applies to all chairmen, vice chairmen, secretaries, and councillors,” Yusuf stated.
He expressed gratitude to the caretaker chairmen for their contribution to the development of their areas and hinted at potential future collaboration.
