LAGOS – Gunmen believed to be secessionists have torched a filling station in Enugu.

The Pinnacle Filling Station on Agbani Road was targeted yesterday around 10 am by the assailants who also set fire to four vehicles owned by various customers.

It was discovered that the four gunmen arrived at the filling station in a Toyota Corolla car.

The attackers reportedly grabbed the nozzles from the pump attendants and utilized them to douse the nearby cars with fuel before igniting the vehicles.

The culprits were also said to have filled a 25-liter can with fuel, which they then used to sprinkle fuel on the three vehicles at the car wash on the site, setting them on fire.

The Enugu State Fire and Emergency Service personnel were observed struggling to extinguish the flames, while the state Commissioner of Police personally led his team to promptly evaluate the extent of the destruction resulting from the event.

The whole filling station was affected, with four vehicles completely destroyed by the fire.

The event reportedly induced fear in the vicinity, leading business owners and residents to swiftly close their operations.

Furthermore, law enforcement officers sealed off Agbani Road, redirecting drivers and passengers to take alternative routes via Emeka Ebola to Amokwe and Uwani to Nise bus stops.

It’s the second time these troublemakers have hit Pinnacle Filling station, belonging to Governor Peter Mbah.

Last year in June, the station in New Haven was targeted, but the police thwarted an attempt to completely destroy it.

Governor Mbah has been actively fighting against sit-at-home orders and insecurity in the state, which has unsettled some criminal elements.
