Erling Haaland delivered a commanding performance, scoring twice to secure a 2-1 victory for Manchester City over Brentford at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
The win ensures City maintains its position at the top of the Premier League table.
The match got off to a dramatic start with Brentford taking an early lead. In the 1st minute, Yoane Wissa pounced on a rebound inside the six-yard box and headed the ball past Manchester City’s goalkeeper, Ederson, to put Brentford ahead 1-0.
City soon responded, with Nathan Michael Collins almost doubling Brentford’s lead. A corner kick led to Collins heading the ball towards the bottom left corner, but Ederson made a crucial save to keep City in the game.
The equaliser came in the 20th minute through Haaland, who showcased his finishing prowess. Kevin De Bruyne, well-positioned in the box, passed to Haaland, who calmly blasted the ball inside the left post to level the score at 1-1.
City took control in the 32nd minute when Haaland struck again. A precise pass from Ederson found Haaland on the edge of the area.

Timing his run perfectly, Haaland chipped the ball over Brentford’s goalkeeper, Mark Flekken, to give City a 2-1 lead.
Brentford’s Flekken made a series of impressive saves to keep his side in the game. In the 68th minute, Jack Grealish’s powerful shot was narrowly saved by Flekken.
Moments later, Haaland’s superb touch and shot from a precise pass were also stopped by Flekken.
The 76th minute saw Savinho got a chance inside the box, but his tremendous shot towards the bottom left corner was brilliantly saved by Flekken.
Haaland, seeking his hat-trick, struck the left post in the 81st minute with a powerful shot from inside the box.
Despite Brentford’s resilient defense and Flekken’s outstanding goalkeeping, Haaland’s two goals proved decisive.
City held on for a 2-1 victory, extending their unbeaten run and reinforcing their lead at the top of the Premier League.
