…Adjourns In Honour Of Sen. Ifeanyi UBA

The Nigeria’s Federal House of Representatives, on Tuesday, September 24, resumed plenary after its annual recess, presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas.
During the brief session, the House received a formal correspondence from President Bola Tinubu, transmitting a supplementary budget for the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) for the 2024 fiscal year.
In a letter dated September 19, 2024, addressed to the Speaker, President Tinubu stated that the supplementary budget was in line with Section 121 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
He emphasized that the additional budget proposal was designed to align with the Federal Government’s fiscal and developmental policies, particularly those under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The letter read in part: “I write in accordance with the provisions of Section 121 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to forward herewith an additional supplementary budget proposal for the FCTA for consideration and passage by the House of Representatives.
“This supplementary budget proposal has been prepared on the basis of the FCTA’s reviewed revenue and expenditure forecasts and is aligned with the fiscal and developmental policies of the Federal Government and the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
President Tinubu added that the proposal would prioritize improvements in human capital and infrastructure within the Federal Capital Territory.
“I trust that the House of Representatives will, in their usual expeditious manner, consider and approve the 2024 supplementary budget proposal of the FCTA,” the President noted, extending his highest regard to the lawmakers.
This proposal follows the initial transmission of N98.5 billion by the President to the National Assembly in June for capital and recurrent expenditures of the FCTA.
In a related development, the House adjourned the session till Wednesday, September 25, in honour of the late Senator Ifeanyi Uba, who represented the Anambra North Senatorial District. Senator Uba, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), passed away in London on July 27, 2024, at the age of 53.
The late senator’s death has been mourned across Nigeria’s political landscape, with his contributions to the Senate and the nation remembered by colleagues, party members, and constituents alike.
