How Dotun Taylor brokered peace between Baba Wande, Tunde Kelani

The longstanding feud between veteran actor, Kareem Adepoju, aka Baba Wande; and legendary filmmaker, Tunde Kelani, of Mainframe Productions, has been resolved, thanks to the efforts of a filmmaker, Oladotun Taylor.

The decades-long dispute between both parties is said to have stemmed from the payment of royalties from the iconic movie, Ti Oluwa Ni Ile.

Taylor, who owns Aroba Groove Limited, is believed to have enlisted the help of the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, in achieving the truce.

Taylor, who is also the Asoju Asa Oodua to the Ooni of Ife, went with some delegates from the palace to visit Kelani at his Abeokuta, Ogun State, home to bury the hatchet.

Taylor also noted that the reconciliation will ensure the seamless production of a stage play titled, Asiyanbi ti Oluwa Ni Ile— an adaptation of Ti Oluwa Ni Ile, which was originally released in 1993.

Commending both veteran entertainers for their willingness to put aside their differences, Taylor said, “Their actions demonstrate the importance of inter-generational collaboration, ensuring a seamless transfer of knowledge and values between the old guard and the next generation. By working together, we can avoid misunderstandings and misaligned efforts, ultimately driving progress and development in the entertainment industry.”

On his part, Baba Wande said, “Tunde Kelani is my friend, and we will continue to work together for the growth of our beloved industry, and Yorubaland in general. This peace initiative is a reminder that our work is appreciated, and we are being watched. I thank the Ooni for his intervention, and assure him of my support to the team representing Ti Oluwa Ni Ile.

Taylor also noted that he aims to revive the classic tale through a groundbreaking stage production, promising a thrilling and innovative theatrical experience. He said, “The captivating stage play, Asiyanbi, is set to captivate audiences in major cities, including London, Birmingham, Liverpool, and others in the United Kingdom in the coming months.
