George Lineker, the 31-year-old son of English football legend and BBC pundit, Gary Lineker, predicted exactly what happened at the 2022 World Cup final match held on Sunday in Qatar, winning a seven-fold bet.

The legend’s son placed a £20 bet ahead of Sunday’s showdown between Argentina and France and won £4,276.40 after correctly predicting seven outcomes during the game.

Lionel Messi led Argentina to World Cup glory at the Lusail Stadium, beating the defending champions France 4-2 on penalties after drawing 3-3 during the 120 minute game.

According to Daily Mail UK, George predicted that Messi and Kylian Mbappe would find the back of the net during the game. He also said that the game would end 2-2 after 90 minutes of action, and also predicted that Argentina would win on penalties.

He further correctly guessed that there would be over one card handed out during the game and that there would be five corners in the game.

George secured odds of 170/1 for his bet. Therefore, he returned £4,276.40 after putting £20 down.

The fierce match between Argentina and France will go down in history as one of the greatest World Cup final match ever.

The match ended 2-2 after 90 minutes but Lionel Messi poked in a goal to put Argentina 3-2 ahead in the 108th minute before Kylian Mbappe completed his hat-trick two minutes before the end of extra-time dragging Argentina into a penalty shootout.

This is Argentina’s third World Cup trophy from six final appearances in history after defeating defending champions France to win the biggest prize in men’s football – with the legend himself getting on the scoresheet twice.

Argentina last won the World Cup in 1978 and 1986 and lost in the final three times, but Messi has finally broken the jinx in Qatar.

In a match dominated by attention on Messi and Kylian Mbappé of France, it was Messi’s experience that ruled the day.

Mbappé became just the second man in World Cup history to score a hat-trick in the final after Geoff Hurst in 1966 and won the Golden Boot for top goalscorer (8 goals), but ended up on the losing end.

Away from national teams, both Messi and Mbappe broke many individual records at the World Cup and would be remember for a very long time following their stellar performances at the 2022 World Cup final.
