The dream of Nigeria to attain greatness and become a formidable force to reckon with in the comity of great nations would remain a mirage until it overcomes its leadership deficit.
This was the view of Pastor Felix Fahuwa, training director, Vision International Christian Ministries (VICM) and regional producer, Global Leadership Summit, West and Central Africa, at a media briefing to herald the 2024/25 Global Leadership Summit (GLS), tagged: “Design your tomorrow,” in Isheri, Ogun State, yesterday.
He identified what he termed significant leadership deficit as the root cause of Nigeria’s numerous challenges.
Stressing the importance of leadership in driving societal growth, he noted that it was important for leaders to be equipped with practical tools and fresh perspectives to correct dysfunction in the system.
He explained that GLS Nigeria is out to address the issue of leadership by providing leaders with practical tools and fresh perspectives to correct dysfunctional leadership.
“We believe GLS 24/25 will energise leaders and prospective leaders alike to lift the lid of mediocrity off their leadership, as it is an indispensable resource for every leader who aspires to be the change our nation direly needs.”

He stressed that as long as leaders prioritise self-interest, progress will remain elusive. “A leader must lead transparently to create a value-driven society. Corruption in leadership stifles national growth and development.”
Rev. Ayomide stressed the importance of long-term planning, declaring that no nation can achieve greatness without a 50-year vision uninhibited by successive governments.
“As long as we have leaders who only think about themselves and want to be in an elective position for the wrong reasons we won’t achieve anything. A leader rally supports and ensures development.
“GLS will continue to preach the message of a better leadership and individual to also get better as you can’t give what you don’t have. Let a leader lead transparently and then we will have a value driven society. As long as leadership is corrupt we cannot get anywhere. We are still far from where we are going because there’s no nation that develops integrity.”
