Unionized workers of the Hyundai Motor Co. in South Korea will go on strike this week in response to President Yoon Suk Yeol’s declaration of martial law on Tuesday.
According to South Korea’s Metal Workers’ Union, unionized Hyundai workers will walk off the job for four hours on Thursday and Friday, in hopes of pressuring Mr. Yoon to step down.
The union also said it plans to launch a full strike on Dec. 11 unless the president steps down.

Hyundai could not be reached for comment.
Mr. Yoon declared martial law during a televised address Tuesday, accusing the opposition political party of sympathizing with North Korea and “anti-state activities.” After the National Assembly voted unanimously to lift the martial law order, Mr. Yoon rescinded his declaration. He now faces possible impeachment and calls for his resignation.
The country’s largest labor union, the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, announced a general strike on Wednesday, hoping to further pressure Mr. Yoon. The union held its first demonstration of the ongoing strike at Seoul’s Gwanghwamun Square on Wednesday morning.
