Tokunbo Wahab, a Commissioner in the cabinet of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reacted sharply to a man who accused him of travelling with taxpayers’ money to watch the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Dortmund in London.
Wahab had displayed videos of him being at the Wembley Stadium having fun during the Madrid-Dortmund Champions League final.

Being a Madrid fan, he said on his X page, “My club, Real Madrid @realmadriden is the champion of Europe once again. The continent’s most decorated club added to its trophy haul on Saturday by winning the UEFA Champions League for the sixth time since 2014, marking its 15th European triumph overall. Hala Madrid!”
Then one Israel Atumen tweeted: “When will you support a Lagos team to reach new heights? Never mind the dollars spent on your trip to Madrid on state expenses… The money would have been channeled to a Lagos team for the better.”
An angry Wahab retorted: “Public servants are human just like yourself. We have our private lives before joining public service and would still have it after leaving. “The assumption that every penny spent by a public servant is from tax payer can best be described as a poor man’s mentality. Get it off your head!”
