The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Sunday, said he has only one house in Daura to retire to after his tenure elapses in May 2023.

“I haven’t built an extra house in Daura. Those who know me know that I have one house and that is where I will retire to,” Buhari said when he hosted a large delegation of the Abuja community led by the FCT minister, Mohammed Bello, at the State House, Abuja.

The President said after leaving office, he will retire to his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, far away from the epicentre of the 2023 political activities.

In his address earlier, the FCT minister thanked the President for opening his doors to his neighbours for one last time.

While noting that the Christmas visit will be the last in the Buhari regime, Bello expects gratitude that the meeting is held after it was halted for two years, 2020 and 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking on behalf of the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, the CAN Vice President of the and President of Evangelical Church Winning All, Stephen Panya said the Christian community is in “full support “ of Buhari’s efforts to lift Nigerians out of poverty.

“The Christian community is fully in support of your efforts and praying that God will bless your effort to end the suffering of your citizens and to help you finish well,” said Panya.

The President also received a goodwill message from the Senator representing the Kogi West constituency, Smart Adeyemi.

The highlight of the meeting was the presentation of a life-size Christmas Card signed by the FCT minister and his deputy, Ramatu Aliyu.
