The gubernatorial candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the forthcoming Ondo state governorship election, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye, popularly known as OBA, has declared that he is in the race to reclaim past glory of the state and reposition it to better height.
While claiming that he has better chances among the contestants, he declared that the present governor of the state under All Progressives Congress (APC), Lucky Aiyedatiwa is doing nothing to better the people of the state rather, he is just chasing shadow.
Akingboye made this declaration while addressing journalists at a press conference held in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital on weekend.
Akingboye insisted that the previous governors who governed the state recorded 80 percent failure and only 20 percent success in major areas of human endeavors.
The SDP candidate maintained that previous governors have failed in the areas of education which Ondo is known to be number one in era first Republic, but presently the state is on number thirty three (33).
Akingboye said the present administration under Aiyedatiwa is doing nothing to change the narration in other areas like power, industrialisation and economy development, hence the need for the people of the Ondo state to him as capable with administrative experience to move the state out of present doldrums the state is.

He noted that he is in the race in order to correct the mistakes made by the previous governors who governed the state, particularly the present administration.
Akingboye, who is optimistic that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not tamper with the gubernatorial election processes, noted that the President always go for the best, which he is the one as they both have worked together in the era of SDP when Tinubu was a Senator.
According to him, “All the governors in the state have offered their services based on their capacities. Education wise, we all know that Ondo state was number one when we were with the Ekiti, but now Ondo state is no more number one. Ondo state was number one in Cocoa production but now Taraba is leading.
“As I speaks, Taraba state has surpassed Ondo state in the area of Cocoa production. These are the areas they have performed low. We need to know what to do in Ondo state, if Taraba state can be the first in Cocoa production today, why will Ondo state be number 5?
“Tinubu will not tamper with the Ondo state gubernatorial election. This is because, everybody is watching. My advice for him is that he should just hands off.
“The election will be free and fair. It will be peaceful. Tinubu will not use his power to influence the election”.
