Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), has approved the payment of N28 million to the 40 Kebbi State indigenes admitted into the Nigerian Law School for May, 2024 backlog, Bar Part II programme.
The gesture is sequel to the approval of the Council of Legal Education for the May, 2024 Law School admission.

This is contained in a statement by the State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Dr. Junaidu Bello Marshall in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.
He remarked that the gesture demonstrated the Governor’s goodwill and commitment to uplift the state to greater heights.
Marshall further announced that Dr. Idris has earlier approved N27.5 million for the payment of registration fees of 38 Kebbi State indigenes for the January, 2024 Law School intake.
According to the Commissioner, the Governor also approved N45 million for all the Lawyers in the Ministry of Justice to attend the forthcoming Nigerian Bar Association National Conference scheduled for August, 2024, in Lagos State.
Similarly, Dr. Idris has approved the sponsorship of seven Lawyers from the Ministry of Justice to be enrolled into Master’s degree programme (Master in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice) offered by the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Marshal explained that was in addition to seven Lawyers earlier enrolled by Dr Idris.
“Additionally, the Governor has graciously approved the process of reviewing the Kebbi State Administration of Criminal Justice Law, 2021; Kebbi State Child Rights Law, 2021 and Kebbi State Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law, 2021.

“This is with a view to amending the laws to be in line with the requirements of the National Policy on Justice Sector and international best practices.
” The review will involve all the critical stakeholders, including the UNICEF and religious leaders.
“It is also interesting to note that Dr. Idris has also forwarded an Executive Bill to the Kebbi State House of Assembly for consideration and passage of Kebbi State Water Users Association (Establishment) Law 2024.
“This is with a view to satisfying SPINE requirements for irrigation farming in the State.
“It is part of the efforts of the Governor to ensure that Kebbi State satisfy the World bank requirements for the programme scheduled for September 2024,” the Commissioner added
In another development, Comrade Nasir Idris has given an approval through the Justice Sector Reform Team of the State, for the connection of solar-powered system at the Federal High Court, Birnin Kebbi; Court of Appeal, Sokoto Division; Special designated Courts at JSC complex and the High Court of Justice complex, among others.
Marshall said that this was in line with the Governor’s effort to ensure the speedy justice delivery in the State.
He announced that Dr. Idris has further approved the renovation of State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, renovation and furnishing of the Legal Aid Council office, Birnin Kebbi office and the repairs of their operational vehicle.
The Commissioner, on behalf of the students and the staff of the Ministry of Justice, commended the Governor for his magnanimity.
He described the support of the governor in the Justice sector as unprecedented, which are widely acknowledged and applauded by the good people of Kebbi State.
