The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the September 21 election in Edo State, Asue Ighodalo has given a condition for signing the peace accord.

During an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Ighodalo shared that his party would sign the peace accord when its conditions have been met by the federal government and the police.

While lamenting that some PDP members have been apprehended and detained without being charged in court, Ighodalo added that his party would sign the accord once his supporters are released.

“We had several conditions, most of which have now been met with one left. Many of our guys have been held unjustly.

“We think if you hold guys, you charge them or let them go on bail. So, either they charge all our guys or let them go on bail. Once that is achieved we will sign the peace accord,” Ighodalo stated.

Ighodalo’s remarks come following PDP’s refusal to sign the peace accord on Thursday, an act that precedes elections in the country.

The head of the Peace Committee, General Adulsalami Abubakar disclosed that former Governor and PDP Chieftain Godwin Obaseki said the party would not sign the accord due to allegations against the police.
