A cleric, Godwin Ikuru, leader of the Jehovah Eye Salvation Ministry, has threatened to organise a national protest against the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) unless the agency apologizes to Senior Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin of the Christ MercyLand Deliverance Ministry in Abuja.
Ikuru’s threat followed comments by NAFDAC’s Director General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, who questioned the legitimacy of Fufeyin’s spiritual products.
Ikuru, who perceives the statement as an attack on Christianity in Nigeria, said,”This is a significant insult to the Christian community. As a prophet of the nation, I refuse to stand by while anyone disparages our faith. NAFDAC is failing to address pressing issues like fake products, harmful drugs, and contaminated food that are causing daily deaths.”
Ikuru also criticized NAFDAC for its involvement in spiritual matters, arguing that the agency has no authority over religious practices.
“NAFDAC is not a spiritual organization. Who gave them the right to oversee spiritual items? Their interference is both insulting and unacceptable,” he stated.
He has demanded an apology from Adeyeye and warned that if the issue is not resolved, he would mobilize Christian leaders nationwide for protests.
“This attack on MercyLand Deliverance Ministry is an attack on all Christians in Nigeria. Religious issues must be handled with the highest respect and caution,” Ikuru concluded.
