The Social Democratic Party, SDP, in the Imo State Chapter, is set to contest the results of the recently concluded LG elections held across the 27 LGAs and 305 wards in the state.
The party strongly criticized the conduct of the election, accusing the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission, ISIEC, of favoring the APC-led government by not following the process guidelines.
This stance was expressed in a petition to ISIEC by the party’s state chairman, Ifeanyi Henry Eluwa, and shared with the press in Owerri.
Eluwa mentioned that there was no election at any polling unit in Imo State, contradicting ISIEC’s assertion of an election taking place.

The SDP chairman pledged that the party would take legal action against the election results purportedly manipulated by the APC.
“ISIEC failed to officially demand and or release forms ISIEC DF001 and ISIEC DF002 to the qualified candidates.
“The Commission failed to publish the list of qualified candidates in the constituency where the candidate intends to contest the election.
“The persons and their party declared winner were at the time not qualified to contest the election. The election was invalidated by reasons of corrupt practices and non-compliance with provisions of the law,” he said.
