Experts from the telecommunications and information and communications technology (ICT) sectors are set to converge for the fifth edition of the Telecom Sector Sustainability Forum (TSSF 5.0).
Themed “Mitigating the Effect of Talent Exodus on Nigeria’s Telecom Growth,” the event will address one of the industry’s most pressing challenges. Organized by Business Remarks, TSSF 5.0 will take place on Thursday, September 19th, 2024, at CITIHeight Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, at 10:00 AM (WAT).
Key industry leaders including Dr. Aminu Maida (NCC), Dr. Olufemi Adeluyi (NATEP), Engr. Gbenga Adebayo (ALTON), and others will discuss the implications of talent loss on Nigeria’s telecom sector.
Convener Bukola Olanrewaju, the Managing Editor of Business Remarks, highlighted the sector’s existing challenges, including unreliable power, rising costs, and poor network coverage. She emphasized that brain drain is a significant threat to the sustainability of the industry, stating:
“The Nigerian telecom sector is already grappling with numerous challenges. The loss of talent is a major blow to our industry’s growth and development.”
Studies have shown that brain drain negatively impacts economic growth and innovation. The tech and telecom sectors have been particularly affected, with Nigeria losing billions of dollars annually.
TSSF 5.0 aims to foster dialogue and develop strategies to retain talent and promote sector growth. By bringing together key stakeholders, the event hopes to contribute to effective policies and initiatives.
