    JOS – The Director General, Institute for Peace and Conflicts Resolution (IPCR) Dr. Joseph Ochogwu has Commended Plateau State Government for its efforts in sustaining peace in 17 LGA in Plateau state.

    Dr Ochogwu who was in Jos with team officials acknowledged the government’s unwavering political will for development and human capacity building even in times of crisis.

    Ochogwu lead a delegation from (IPCR) on a courtesy visit to Governor Caleb Mutfwang at Old Government House in Jos the State capital.

    The Director General Ochogwu who Commended the state for being among the first to establish the Peace Building Agency following a call from national-level and recommendations.

    He emphasized that peace requires constant nurturing, vigilance, and even active participation while calling on citizens to reject division hatred and instead, embrace tolerance, empathy, and compassion.

    He equally Supported Local Government autonomy saying is a government that is nearer to the people that would quickly address challenges in the community.
    He also called on government to control a cities if illegal miners in the Communities.

    Responding Governor Mutfwa represented by his deputy, NGO Josephine Piyo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering peace, unity and development in the state.

    According to him, peace goes beyond the absence of conflict adding that it encompasses harmony, cooperation, and mutual respect among individuals and communities.

    He stressed that Plateau is a peaceful state,where people can live and work together in unity, creating a sense of security and well-being for all.

    The Governor Mutfwang encouraged citizens to consider peace as a fundamental value crucial for societal progress and prosperity and urged them to uphold the principles of peace in their interactions in their communities.

    He commended (IPCR) for its commitment towards diverse stakeholders, pooling resources, and leveraging on collective strengths of the state’s mission to promote lasting peace and sustainable development on the Plateau.
