    LAGOS – Interswitch, one of Africa’s lead­ing integrated payments and digital commerce companies, has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to advancing inno­vation and financial inclusion across Africa through its cut­ting-edge solutions.

    This dedication was rec­ognised at the 2024 Africa Fin­tech Summit (AFTS), where Interswitch emerged as the Fin­tech of the Year, and received the Excellence in Payments award.

    These awards celebrate the company’s exceptional achieve­ments in product innovation, market impact, and contribu­tions to Africa’s fintech ecosys­tem.

    Peter Kawumi, Managing Director, Interswitch East Af­rica, highlighted these efforts during a panel discussion titled ‘Open Banking, AI and Emerg­ing Technologies in Financial Services Delivery, which held during the summit in Nairobi, Kenya.

    Kawumi emphasised the impact of Interswitch’s suite of products, including the widely renowned payment card, Verve Card, in enhancing access to fi­nancial services and delivering seamless payment solutions to cardholders.

    He also underscored the company’s focus on expanding financial accessibility across Africa, calling for industry-wide collaboration to address the continent’s financial inclusion challenges.

    He stated: “Interswitch is fully committed to advancing fi­nancial inclusion across Africa. Our suite of tailored and seam­less products play a crucial role in improving access to financial services and transforming the digital payment landscape.

    To effectively address the challenges of financial inclu­sion and create a robust finan­cial ecosystem, it is essential for industry players to embrace collaboration and deliver inno­vative, seamless solutions to customers.”

    The Africa Fintech Summit, since its inception in 2018, has grown into a premier gathering of industry leaders, innovators, and investors, showcasing the latest advancements in finan­cial technology from across the continent.

    During second panel session titled ‘Focus on Kenya – The Sil­icon Savannah’s Digital Future’ Jonah Adams, Managing Direc­tor, Digital Infrastructure and Managed Services (Interswitch Systegra), shared insights into Interswitch’s contributions to Kenya’s fintech ecosystem.
